Automated Order Finishing Systems to Maximize Fulfillment on Display at ProMat 2017

Pyramid’s Continuous Intelligent Operations (CIO) software and control solutions—showcased in Booth S1023c—optimize order processing automation, including print-and-apply labeling of packages transported via motor-driven roller conveyor.

promatLogoCINCINNATI, OH (January 3, 2017) — Pyramid, a Matthews Automation Solutions’ brand, will be highlighting its automated order finishing solutions during ProMat 2017 in a live demonstration of a packaging line that includes motor-driven roller (MDR) conveyor and print-and-apply labeling.

Located in Booth S1023c in McCormick Place’s South Hall, the demo utilizes Pyramid’s Continuous Intelligent Operations (CIO) software and control solutions to balance carton flow and labeling, as well as integrates MDR and conveyor controller card products from Pyramid’s sister Matthews Automation Solutions’ brand, Holjeron.

Pyramid’s order finishing-specific CIO software and controls coordinate of a variety of tasks associated with completing an order prior to shipping. These can include:

  • Print-and-apply labeling
  • Auto-bagging
  • Auto-boxing
  • Automatic document (packing slip) insertion, with and without folding
  • Exception management
  • Scan verification
  • Check weighing

“For a long time the e-commerce revolution put the focus on getting orders out the door to meet highly competitive delivery times. Now there’s a growing emphasis on how the order goes out the door,” says Mukesh Ram, founder of Pyramid. “Whether an operation needs to meet certain labeling compliance standards, or wants to provide an enhanced customer experience, distributors now recognize order finishing systems—those that come after the order is picked but before it goes onto a truck—are a key part of their process.”

For that reason, continues Ram, Pyramid has developed specific control solutions for automated print-and-apply labeling, manifesting, scan verification, check weighing, bagging, boxing and document insertion applications. “In addition to packing lists, automated order finishing is an opportunity for retailers or direct-to-consumer (DTC) fulfillment operations to add coupons, catalogs, special offers or other marketing materials specific to that customer’s online shopping profile.”

In addition to the finishing line, Pyramid will also present video examples and application briefs detailing recent control installations managing order finishing system applications, among others. Pyramid’s automated order finishing capabilities live demo and videos can be seen in Booth S1023c throughout ProMat 2017 in Chicago—April 3-6, 2017.
